Description
Tan-y-Bryn is a 2-storey building with an L-shaped plan, dating from the late 20th century. The main rectangular range runs roughly from northwest to southeast, with a shorter 2-storey section at the back. It is built from limewashed, roughly coursed rubblestone sitting on a boulder plinth, and has a graded slate roof.
The front wall of the main range features two 20th-century windows in earlier openings on each floor, which are grouped towards the center, with an entrance to the left. There is a square integral end stack on the left that partly projects and rests on four roughly rounded corbels, and a rebuilt integral end stack on the right.
The building has undergone significant alterations in the late 20th century, including the addition of a new staircase. However, the left ground-floor room still has a large open fireplace with a chamfered beam and exposed joists that rest on a cross beam. The position of a former winder staircase is located next to the fireplace.
