Description
This disused cottage, located immediately to the north-east of Tan-y-Bryn, is constructed from large boulders and has a limewashed front and a large slate roof. It is a single-storey building with a single-room plan and features a massive integral end stack on the left side. The front has a roughly central boarded door, flanked by a fixed-light multi-paned window (which is made up from one leaf of an old sash window) on the left and a small window on the right. External steps on the right gable end lead to a boarded door that accesses the croglofft. The back wall is windowless.
Inside, the cottage retains a remarkably unaltered single-room interior that is largely open to the roof, which has lime torching on the underside and double purlins. There is a massive open fireplace in the end stack, featuring voussoirs to a segmental arch and two bread ovens. The remains of a slate floor can be seen. There is no internal access to the croglofft, which is supported on roughly cut joists.
