Description

Landue Barton is a farmhouse, now a house, that underwent early 19th century rebuilding of an earlier structure, with some minor later additions and alterations. It is constructed of roughly coursed slate-stone with projecting ashlar window dressings, and features slate-hung cladding on the right return and rear. The slate roof is hipped to the right and rear. The building has an L-plan with a full-height range to the rear on the right and stands two storeys tall.

The front has three windows, featuring early 19th century multi-paned Gothic casements set in eared architraves, all consisting of two pointed lights except for the lower left window, which has three lights; the right window on each floor is blind. There is an integral end stack with a rendered shaft to the left and a truncated bread oven at the base. The right return, which continues to the rear range, has two-light Gothic casements on the first floor to the left and right, a three-light window in the tower on the right, and a late 20th century French window in a matching style to the lower left. A rendered ridge stack is located at the junction between the parts.

The back wall of the rear range features a gabled porch, and the left side has a narrow 21-paned glazing bar sash that lights the staircase. There is a lean-to structure at the angle with the main range. The interior was only partially inspected during the resurvey in December 1987, but it includes slate floors on the ground floor and an early 19th century staircase with a carved open string and stick balusters.
