Description

The granite war memorial at Landue Bridge features a three-stepped base, with the lower step made of concrete. Above this base, there is a plinth, a tapered shaft, and a Celtic cross. The base of the shaft and the plinth display an inscription in raised metal block capital letters, which reads:

“ERECTED IN / GRATEFUL MEMORY / OF THE MEN OF / THIS PARISH WHO / GAVE THEIR LIVES / FOR THEIR COUNTRY / IN THE WAR, / 1914 – 1918. / (NAMES) / “GREATER LOVE HATH NO MAN THAN THIS, THAT / A MAN LAY DOWN HIS LIFE FOR HIS FRIENDS.” / 1939-1945 / (NAMES)

This inscription honors twelve men who died in World War I and three men who died in World War II.
