Description
The granite war memorial is located in the churchyard of the Church of St Mary Magdalene, which is a Grade I-listed building. It is prominently positioned by the churchyard path near the church porch. The memorial features a wheel-head cross that stands on a tapering plinth with a single-stepped base. The main dedicatory inscription on the front face of the plinth reads: "TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN MEMORY OF THE MEN OF THIS PARISH WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR KING AND COUNTRY IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1918" followed by seven names.
Additionally, the names of those who died in the Second World War are recorded on a granite slab placed at the foot of the memorial, with the inscription stating: "THIS STONE COMMEMORATES THOSE OF THIS PARISH WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN THE 1939-1945 WAR" followed by three names. The memorial is surrounded by a low granite kerb.
