Description
Trebell Farmhouse is a farmhouse, now a house, likely built in the late 18th century, with an addition from the mid to late 19th century and some alterations in the 20th century. It is constructed of granite rubble and features a rag slate roof, which has been slurried over the 19th-century addition, complete with ridge tiles and gable ends. The building originally had a large one-room plan with a central entrance at the front, and the room was heated by a large gable end stack on the left. In the mid to late 19th century, an unheated one-room addition was added to the right, and at that time, the original room was divided by partition walls to create a central entrance passage with small rooms on either side.
The exterior is two storeys high and has a nearly symmetrical two-window front. On the first floor, there are two 6-pane sash windows, while the ground floor features two 4-pane sash windows from the 19th century. The central open-fronted porch has a pitched slate roof and a 4-panelled inner door from the 19th century. The right-side addition includes a 6-pane sash window on the first floor and a 6-pane sash window, which was formerly a door, on the ground floor. The right side also shows remnants of a small single-storey rubble addition. At the rear, there are two 20th-century casement windows on both the ground and first floors, along with a 20th-century glazed door at the back of the 19th-century addition.
Inside, the room on the left contains a fireplace with a cambered timber lintel and rubble jambs. Both rooms have roughly hewn beams, which may be replacements; however, the interior has not been fully inspected.
