Description

A farmhouse, now a house, was built in the mid 17th century, with alterations in the 19th century and later additions. The house is constructed of granite rubble with granite dressings. The roof is corrugated iron with gable ends. Gable end stacks are present, with a rendered shaft on the left and a granite shaft with a cornice and shaped top on the right. The rear wall is roughcast, and may be built of cob. Original plan comprised two rooms, a larger room to the right and a smaller room to the left, each heated by a gable end stack, with the entrance positioned off-centre to the left through a porch. The building is two storeys, with a nearly symmetrical three-window front. At the first floor, all windows are 19th-century four-pane sashes. At ground floor, 20th-century replacement four-pane windows are set in chamfered granite surrounds with hood moulds. An open-fronted porch is located off-centre to the left, featuring a pitched roof of slurried slate, stone benches on either side, and a 20th-century door in a chamfered granite surround with run-out stops. A single-storey lean-to is situated to the left, featuring a blocked door and 20th-century windows, with further 20th-century windows on the side of the lean-to. The left-hand side is rendered at the upper level, while the right-hand side is in rubble and blank. The rear is roughcast, potentially over cob. Internally, a straight staircase has been inserted across the central passage. One roughly hewn beam remains on the ground floor, and both ground floor rooms have ceiled roofs with original fireplaces removed or concealed.
