Description

The outer walls at Empacombe are the remnants of the kitchen garden for a great house, dating from the early to mid-19th century. Constructed from limestone rubble, these coped walls stand approximately 3 metres high and encircle the combe, enclosing the kitchen gardens. There is an entrance screen at the north end, which is listed separately, and damaged gate piers located at the south end near Empacombe Home Farm. These walls once surrounded the kitchen garden of Mount Edgcumbe but are now largely disused.
