Description

Tregear (north) is a farmhouse dating from the 18th century or earlier. It is constructed of rendered cob and has an asbestos slate roof, which was formerly thatched, along with brick gable chimneys. The building features a two-room plan with a stair turret on the right, which is encased in a full-length outshut at the rear. There are external cob chimney breasts. The farmhouse is two storeys high and has three windows. The door, which is off-centre to the left, is accompanied by a 20th-century glazed porch and a window above it. The windows are primarily 4-paned sashes, although a 12-paned casement window remains on the first floor of the outshut.

At the back of the left room, there is a semi-circular recess in the corner, with another recess above it on the first floor of the outshut. To the right of the fireplace in the larger lower room, there is another recess. The original stair turret has been converted into a cupboard, and the ceiling in this area features open beams. Surviving original features include 18th-century two-panelled doors with H-L hinges on both the ground and first floors, as well as a post and panelled partition on the first floor. The foundations of the house rest on bedrock. Additionally, there is a well by the garden gate, which is equipped with an iron pump located in the garden.
