Description
Trevella is a house dating from the late 18th century, with additions and alterations around 1816 and circa 1976. The main house is built of rendered ashlar with a slate roof, and incorporates a rear wing constructed from reclaimed brick – likely from a late 17th or 18th century house that stood on the site and was destroyed by fire.
The house has a three-bay, double-range plan, featuring a central hallway and a staircase leading to the rear. A rear range is set at an angle, potentially incorporating earlier fabric, and contains service rooms. Attached to the gable of the rear wing is a three-bedroom, three-bay house built around 1976.
The front elevation exhibits raised quoins, a sill band, and a raised parapet above a stone cornice. It originally featured a central doorway, which is now a window matching the surrounding 24-pane sash windows on both floors. These windows are set within cambered heads with keystones. The right gable has a central entrance, recessed within an open pedimented Tuscan doorcase, leading to a six-panelled door. Above this entrance is a 20-paned window deeply set with an architrave, cornice, and apron that sweeps down to the doorhead. The roof is half-hipped between gable stacks and includes a small raking dormer behind the parapet and a 20th-century rooflight. The rear wing has been refenestrated and features a canted bay on the ground floor, with an entrance located in the angle of the wing and the second dwelling. The left elevation has wide boarded modillion eaves.
The interior is not accessible but it is reported that the front rooms are panelled.
