Description

Ye Old Cottage and Weehouse is a house that has been divided into two homes, dating from the 16th or 17th century. The building is constructed of painted rubble with oak lintels on the left side for Ye Old Cottage, while the right side is finished with stucco on rubble. It features a steep asbestos slate roof with a central rubble stack and brick end stacks, as well as a truncated original external rubble lateral stack.

The house has a single-depth plan that includes a rear stair projection to the left of the through passage and an 18th-century wing at the rear left. The exterior is three storeys high with a four-window range. To the left of the lateral stack, there is a gabled two-storey bay projection with slate hanging on the first floor and original squint slit window openings on the ground floor returns. The left side, Ye Old Cottage, has late 19th or 20th-century two-light casements with three panes per light, except for the 20th-century 16-pane casements in the projecting bay. There is a planked door and window under a shared lintel to the left of the projecting bay. Weehouse features an original doorway that fronts the through passage on the right and has 19th-century four-pane hornless sash windows on each floor to the right.

Inside, there is an 18th-century plank and muntin screen to the right of the passage, some original chamfered ceiling beams in Ye Old Cottage, a stone winder stair, and one original truss with halved lapped and dovetail joints to the pegged collar.
