Description
Orchard Cottage is a house dating from the 17th or 18th century, located in a row of buildings on West Looe Hill in Looe. It features roughcast render on a rubble base, a mid-floor band, and a steep asbestos slate roof that is hipped on the left side with a raking dormer that breaks the eaves. The house has rendered end stacks and a shallow-depth plan.
It is two storeys tall with an attic and has a two-window range. The first floor has old 12-pane, 2-light casements, while the ground floor includes a 19th-century 3-light casement or possibly a 3-light mullion with a later casement in a wider opening on the left. On the right side, there is a later 4-pane horned sash window in a heightened opening. The central doorway features a 20th-century glazed and panelled door, topped by a 20th-century slate hood supported by wooden brackets. The left-hand return of the building has windows on the right side, with a small-paned dormer above an old casement with glazing bars over the later 4-pane horned sash. The interior has not been inspected.
