Description

This is a 17th-century house situated on the west side of Gibson Lane in Haddenham. The house is constructed primarily of wattle and daub (wichert) with a roughcast finish over a rubblestone plinth. It has timber-framed gables, now also roughcast, and a half-hipped roof covered in plain tiles. Originally, the house comprised two bays and two storeys. Around 1950, the central entrance door was moved to the right, and a modern porch was added. The windows are steel casements, mostly of two lights; a single light is located on the right-hand side of the ground floor. A staircase is positioned behind the front door and in front of the central chimney stack, with a window at first-floor level illuminating the stairwell — this window is a two-light design, featuring ovolo moulded mullions and leaded glass. A 17th-century two-light leaded window is located in the lobby. A chimney is situated at eaves level to the right, and a central 17th-century stack features cogged eaves to the cap, indicative of a lobby entry plan.
