Description

This is an 18th-century house located on the west side of Gibson Lane in Haddenham. The house is constructed primarily of witchert (a type of wattle and daub) with a colourwashed finish, set upon a rubblestone plinth, and features colourwashing throughout. It has a thatched roof, hipped to the east, with a tile-roofed addition to the west. The original section of the house has three bays and one-and-a-half storeys, with a two-storey, one-bay addition to the west. A central entrance features a six-panel door within a rusticated patterned render surround. Three-pane sash windows are present, along with three-light casement windows to the three eaves dormers. The additional western bay contains two three-light casement windows on the ground floor and one on the first floor. The east gable displays two-light upper floor casements within a half-gable. Chimneys are positioned between the left-hand bays and flanking the addition. This building holds group value as a well-preserved example of vernacular architecture.
