4/13 Forge at approx 10m west of Sandoes

GV II

Forge now garage and store. Circa aid-late C19. Painted slatestone rubble and some cob. Pyramidal dry Delabole slate roof with louvered ventilator over apex and brick chimneys over side walls to east and west. Square plan with inner walled pen to north west corner. Single storey. South road front originally symmetrical has doorway left of centre with stable type door and widened doorway to right of centre with pair of ledged doors. Further doorway, now with window to side wall left towards rear, originally for access to horse pen. Original window to rear of horse pen. Interior has original forge with stone jambs and corbelled brick hood to west and inserted forge in south east corner with 1 brick jamb and corbelled brick hood. Horse pen has original wooden shutters to window in inner wall and communicating doorway. A complete forge building little altered since built.
