Description

This is a pair of semi-detached council houses dating from around 1922, designed by P. Edwin Stevens and built by Percy Williams. They are constructed from quarried granite rubble with granite dressings, and have scantle slate hipped roofs with sprocketted eaves. The roof slopes down to a lower level at each end. The axial stacks are rendered.

The houses have identical, mirror-image plans, arranged around a U-shaped layout. Each house features a full-depth kitchen/living room in the centre, with a front parlour and a rear scullery at either end. The sculleries project to form short, two-storey wings at the rear. Each house includes a central lobby and staircase.

The exterior elevations are unaltered. The front has a 4-window arrangement, with original doors and windows in their original openings. The panelled front doors have small windows above them, and granite hoods with corbels above the doorways. The windows are casement windows with glazing bars. The interior has not been inspected.
