Description

The Old Manse is a former manse, now a private house, dating from the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed of stuccoed walls with a gabled roof covered in scantle slate, featuring slightly projecting eaves and cast-iron gutters. The building has a roughly L-shaped plan. The front range includes two front rooms flanking a central entrance hall, with a shallow service room behind the left-hand room and a stair hall behind the right-hand room. A two-room-deep service wing extends at a right angle to the front range. The symmetrical three-window north-east front has a plinth, rusticated quoins, a moulded hood on consoles above the doorway, and architraves with moulded cornices to the window openings. The front door is a three-panel design with an overlight, and the windows are 12-pane hornless sashes. The right-hand wall of the service wing has two windows, also with 12-pane hornless sashes, and a stair window with a traceried head. The interior has not been inspected. The building retains its original doors and windows and has unaltered elevations.
