Description
Nos 3 and 4 Trewen Road are a pair of semi-detached council houses built around 1922, designed by P. Edwin Stevens. They are constructed from quarried granite rubble with granite dressings and feature grouted scantle slate hipped roofs with gable ends on the front wings. The houses have sprocketted eaves and moulded kneelers, with brick axial stacks, one of which is rendered.
The overall plan is U-shaped, with two short projecting wings at the front. The entrance and stair hall are located at the front, likely leading to kitchen/living rooms behind, parlours partly in the front wings, and sculleries at the back.
The exterior consists of two storeys with unaltered elevations that retain most of the original windows, although the doors have been replaced in the 20th century. The front is symmetrical with four windows, and each gable-ended wing projects slightly forward, featuring two-light windows on the ground floor and three-light windows above. The windows are small-paned casements, except for the one on the ground floor to the right. There are doorways near the angle with the wings, each with hoods supported by corbels. The interior has not been inspected.
