Description
Nos 5 and 6 Trewen Road are a pair of semi-detached council houses built around 1922, designed by P. Edwin Stevens. They are constructed from quarried granite rubble with granite dressings and feature scantle slate hipped roofs with sprocketted eaves, which sweep lower at both ends. The houses have rendered stacks.
The layout consists of two identical but mirror-image houses with an overall U-shaped plan. Each house includes full-depth kitchen/living rooms in the center, front parlours, and rear sculleries at either end, with the sculleries projecting into short wings at the back. Both houses have a central lobby and stair.
The exterior is two storeys high with unaltered elevations, displaying an overall four-window front. The original doors and windows remain in their original openings, featuring panelled doors with small lights at the top and granite hoods on corbels above the doorways. The windows are casement style with glazing bars. The interior has not been inspected.
