Description

This is a pair of tombchests located 10 metres north of the west tower of the Church of St Martin in Lewannick. The tombchests commemorate Richard Steere, a yeoman who died in 1700, and Stephen Steere, also a yeoman, who died in 1723. Both tombchests are made of stone rubble and feature slate rectangular lids. They are inscribed with upper and lower case lettering that includes serifs, along with marginal inscriptions and verses in the central panels.
