Description

This is a group of four tombchests located 11 metres to the northeast of the Church of St Michael. They date from 1706, 1724, 1747, and 1819. The first tombchest belongs to Christopher Allee, who died in 1706. It is made of stone rubble and has a slate lid, featuring a marginal inscription and verse. The second tombchest is for John Lower, a gentleman from Tregreenwell, who died in 1724. It is also a stone rubble chest with a slate lid and includes a verse. The third tombchest is for John, the son of John and Ann Lower of Tregreenwell, who died in 1747. This chest is made of stone rubble, has a slate lid, a verse, and is decorated with angel's heads. The fourth tombchest is for William Rendle, who probably died in 1819. It is made of stone rubble with a slate lid, and its inscription is partly eroded.
