Group of 3 Tombchests of J Clode, A Bake, S Clode 3 Metres to West of North Transept and 3-10 Metres to North of Nave of Church of St Julitta

This is a group of three tombchests located 3 metres to the west of the north transept and 3 to 10 metres to the north of the nave of the Church of St Julitta. The tombchests date from 1765, 1767, and 1788.

The first tombchest is for John Clode, who died in 1765. It is made of stone rubble with a thick granite lid and a slate ledger stone. The inscription features upper and lower case lettering with serifs, which reads: "Mourn for me my wife so dear I am not Dead but sleeping here My debt is paid and my grave you see Prepare yourself to follow me."

The second tombchest is for Ann, the wife of Robert Bake of Camelford, who died in 1767, and Samuel Bake, who died in 1784. This chest is also made of stone rubble with a slate lid and has a similar inscription style. The verse inscribed reads: "Weep not for me my Children dear Now my afflictions o'er 0 may we meet at the great day The Saviour to adore."

The third tombchest belongs to Sarah Phillis Clode, the wife of William Clode, Gent, Alderman of the Borough of Camelford, who died in 1788, as well as William Clode, senior, Gent and Alderman, who also died in 1788. This chest is made of stone rubble with a thick granite lid and a slate ledger stone. The epitaph inscribed on it is: "0 come ye mournful train attend With musing step the hallow'd place draw near View there your once lov'd happy friends Now silent, slumbering on the sable bier."
