Description
This is a group of three tombchests located 8 to 10 meters south of the south aisle of the Church of St. James. The tombchests commemorate George Wilce, who died in 1804, and his wife Catherine, who died in 1785. The first chest is made of ashlar stone and has a slate lid. The second tombchest honors John Soper, who died in 1772, and is constructed of brick with a slate lid. The third tombchest is for John Soper, who died in 1778, and his son John, who died in 1777. This chest is made of ashlar stone and features a moulded cornice, a slate lid with an inscription, an angel's head, and a verse.
