Description
The gate piers, gates, flanking walls, and railings date from the early 18th century and were resited in the 20th century. They are constructed from dressed killas rubble with granite dressings. The wrought iron gates and railings have also been resited. The wide gateway is flanked by square piers that are set on plinth walls for the railings. Originally located closer to the house, they were rebuilt using the original masonry of the gate piers, along with the original wall copings, gates, and railings. The gate piers feature a plinth and an entablature with moulded architraves and cornices, topped with pyramidal caps that have obelisk finials on moulded plinths. The wall copings have cavetto-moulded sides. The gates are adorned with fleurs-de-lis and scrolled details, while the railings have fleurs-de-lis finials.
