Description

Tregedna Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the mid to late 19th century. It features a mix of granite ashlar and killas rubble, which was quarried on the farm, with granite dressings. The roof is covered with grouted scantle slate and has projecting eaves and verges, with brick chimneys at both gable ends.

The farmhouse has an overall L-shaped plan that remains unaltered. The front includes a double-depth range with two rooms on either side of a central entrance hall that leads to a stair hall. To the left is a back kitchen and to the right is a pantry. There is a one-room-plan dairy wing at right angles behind the pantry, connected to the house by a two-storey passage that has a quadrant shape.

The exterior is two storeys high with a symmetrical three-bay southeast front. It has a granite ashlar plinth and a gable-ended central bay that features a central doorway with a triangular-headed window opening above a 20th-century door. The left bay has an original four-light canted bay window with a hipped slate roof on the ground floor. The right bay has a larger 20th-century enlargement of a flat window opening. Other windows are original small-paned casements with traceried heads, except for the window above the doorway, which has a triangular head.

Inside, the farmhouse is virtually unaltered and retains most of its original carpentry and joinery details.
