Description
This lychgate, located approximately 10 meters east of the Church of Saint Just, was first built in 1632 and may have been rebuilt in the early 19th century. It is constructed from dressed slatestone and features a low-pitched scantle slate roof with cusped wooden bargeboards. The structure is square in plan with side walls only and includes a covered walkway that runs east to west. The dressed stone jambs are spanned by segmental arched wooden lintels that have moulded edges, with plain plaster gables above. Inside, there is a granite cattle grid on the floor, although the spaces between the grid are now filled. The interior also has side ledges with wooden seats and a roof structure that is arch-braced with two bays.
