Description
The lych gate is an early to mid-19th century structure with an earlier central wall. It features a ground floor made of shale rubble and a first floor that is hung with slate, topped with a scantle slate roof. The building has two storeys and two windows, which are paired pointed arches with glazing bars set in pointed arched openings. The entrance is located at the south end, leading through a passage with a lintel supported by corbelled rubble at the east ends. The passage, which is cobbled towards the church, includes a granite Cornish stile on the village side, although this has been filled in. The north wall of the passage is notably thick and is a remnant of the earlier lych gate. External steps with slate treads and an iron handrail lead up to the first-floor room.
