Description

No. 72 is a town house built around 1805, featuring a granite ashlar front with a roof that is hidden by a parapet. It has a double-depth plan with one room at the front and stands three storeys tall, displaying a two-window range on the front. The doorway is located on the left and includes a wooden doorcase with a triangular pediment supported by pilasters, panelled reveals, and a six-panel door. There is a first-floor sill string and a moulded cornice at the parapet. The windows have shallow segmental arches with keyblocks above the original hornless sashes that include glazing bars. Inside, the first-floor room retains an original moulded ceiling cornice, although the rest of the interior has not been inspected. The property is complemented by original wrought-iron railings with spearhead and scrolled finials that flank the doorway and extend over the forecourt plinth.
