Description

No. 9 Broad Street is a town house with a later shop, likely built in the late 18th century. It features a front made of granite ashlar with segmental keyed arches on both the ground and first floors. The building has a dry slate roof with a modillion eaves cornice and brick stacks at either end. It has a deep plan and stands three storeys tall with a three-window range. The wide openings are fitted with late 19th-century six-pane horned sash windows, flanking a central narrow four-pane sash window. The ground floor has an approximately central doorway with a six-pane door that has fielded panels and an overlight, which is linked to the doorway of a late 19th-century shopfront on the left. This shopfront features fluted end pilasters, ornate consoles, and a fascia board above. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
