Description
Cartref, including the front garden wall, is a house and garden wall located on Lower Castle Lane in St Mawes. It dates from the early 19th century and features a stucco exterior over a rubble base, with granite rusticated quoins, a first-floor sill band, and keystones. The roof is made of ripped, dry slate and has a brick chimney on the left side wall. The house has a two-room, double-depth layout with a central stair plan and a symmetrical three-window south front. The original 16-pane hornless sash windows are set in openings with cambered arches. The central doorway has an original six-panel door within a porch supported by square panelled posts with capitals and a simple entablature of brackets beneath the flat roof eaves soffit. The property also features old louvered wooden window shutters. The front garden wall is made of plain rubble and includes a central gateway with a wooden rail and pailing fence and gate. The interior has not been inspected.
