Description

Pilots Cottage is a house dating to the 17th century, remodelled in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed of rendered and painted slatestone rubble with an asbestos slate roof. The roof is hipped to the left and features a 17th-century rubble stack projecting from the gable end, which adjoins the party wall of the neighbouring property, number 6. The house has a two-room plan. The south front has a slightly irregular appearance with three windows. It has four-pane sash windows with horns. A centrally positioned doorway has a 20th-century door, and a 20th-century gabled hood supported by brackets is above the doorway. A full-height splayed corner exists on the left side, and the ground floor has 20th-century louvered shutters. Inside, the ceilings have 19th-century beams, although earlier features are obscured. The roof structure has not been inspected.
