Description
This is a circa 1840 house with garden walls to the front, located in Feock, near Devoran. The house is constructed of local Killas rubble stone with granite quoins, jambstones, and keystones, and features brick arches. The roof is hipped and covered in asbestos slate, with wide eaves and a brick chimney on the east side.
The building has a double-depth plan with two main front rooms, rooms to the rear, and a one-room addition to the right. There's also a two-room central stairwell with a wing extending to the east.
The two-storey, symmetrical south front has three windows plus a single-window bay to the right. The first floor has original 12-pane hornless sash windows. One ground floor window, originally in the left-hand opening, has been moved to the central position, now a 20th-century doorway. A later hipped roof bay with a 12-pane sash and sidelights has been added to the ground floor on the right. The wing set back slightly to the right has wider ground floor windows, both four-pane horned sashes. Shallow arches feature over the openings. The interior has not been inspected.
A low granite-coped rubble garden wall runs along the front, with granite gate piers. The house is part of a row of similar contemporary properties in St John's Terrace, creating an impressive group, despite later alterations to some of the other houses.
