Description
Woodview, including the front garden wall, is a house located on Plymouth Road in Buckfastleigh, dating from around 1820. The building is colourwashed, stuccoed, and has a natural slate roof that is gabled at the left end, abutting No. 115 on the right. It features a left end stack with a rendered shaft and corbelled cap, and a cast-iron gutter stamped with lions' heads. The house has a deep rectangular plan that is two rooms wide and is set back behind a town mill leat that runs along the northwest side of Plymouth Road, with a small bridge crossing the ditch.
The exterior of the house is two storeys high, with deep eaves supported by paired moulded brackets. The eaves cornice extends around the left side of the house. The front is asymmetrical with three windows and regular fenestration. To the left is a four-panel 19th-century front door with an Edwardian stained glass overlight, and to the right is a half-glazed door with a matching overlight. There are two tall ground-floor 12-pane sash windows, one of which is an early 19th-century window, while the other is a horned replacement. The first floor has three 16-pane sash windows. A verandah across the front is supported by cast-iron posts with moulded capitals and has a corrugated-iron roof.
The interior has not been inspected but may retain interesting features. The garden wall is made of grey limestone rubble.
