Description

LOSTWITHIEL LANWITHAN ROAD, Lostwithiel SX 15 NW 10/109 Bank barn at Lanwithan Farm - II

Bank barn with watermill. Mid C19. Random slatestone and granite rubble, granite dressings; hipped slate roof with ridge coping tiles. Bank barn with entrances at ground floor to front, access to the upper storey at higher ground level to rear. The launder runs underneath the barn between the front and the rear, with an open bay containing the wheel, with the gearing machinery in the end bay to left. 2 storeys; bay to left has double doorway and window at ground floor, with granite band course over, large and small loading doors above. The wheel bay is to the right, open to front and rear up to eaves height; the wheel is about 15 feet in diameter, with wooden paddles and cast iron spokes. To right, there are 4 doors and one window a granite cill, 3 small and one large loading door above. To the rear, end bay to right has one door and window, doors giving access to loft along other bays. Interior Not inspected.
