Description
Oak Cottage is a house built around 1820, with some later alterations. It is constructed of rubble and features slate hanging. The slate roof has ridge coping tiles and gable ends, with gable end stacks. The house has a double depth plan with a central entrance leading to a passage, and the principal front room is of equal size on both the left and right sides.
The building is two storeys high and has three windows. On the ground and first floors, there are 12-pane sash windows with sidelights on the left and right, and a central 12-pane sash window on the first floor. The ground floor also has a central 12-pane sash window, which may have originally been a door. There is a fluted eaves cornice, and the right side is finished in painted rubble, with a greenhouse attached. The first floor on the right features an oriel window with a two-light casement. The left side is also painted rubble, with a two-light casement window on both the ground and first floors to the left. At the rear center, there is a two-storey wing that is weatherboarded. The interior has not been inspected.
