Description
The Old Toll House is a toll house that has been converted into a residence, dating from around 1820 with some later alterations. It is constructed of random slatestone rubble and features a hipped slurried slate roof with a large ridge stack, which is partly rendered. The building has a two-room plan, with the entrance located to the right and rooms at the front and rear left, both heated by an axial stack that likely has a back-to-back fireplace.
The house is two storeys high, and the front includes a gabled projecting bay that is slightly off-centre to the left. On both the ground and first floors, there are 2-light casements, each with a 4-centred arched head and diamond glazing, topped with a flat stone head. To the right, there is a 20th-century door with a flat stone head. The left side of the building is partly rendered and features 20th-century 2-light casements on both the ground and first floors. The interior has not been inspected.
