Description
No. 18 Grenville Road is a house built around 1830 with few later alterations. It is constructed of slatestone rubble with brick dressings and is partly rendered. The roof is hipped and covered with slate, featuring ridge coping tiles and brick stacks on the sides.
The house has a 2-room plan with a central entrance, and each room is heated by a stack on the side. There is a 2-storey rear service wing to the left. The building stands two storeys high and has three windows. The first floor features 12-pane sash windows set in brick surrounds with brick voussoirs. The ground floor has a central recessed doorway with a 4-panelled door and a fanlight above, with a brick basket-arched head. There are 16-pane sash windows to the right and left, in similar surrounds. The eaves are deep and supported by brackets. The left side of the house has the rendered 2-storey rear service wing, while the right side remains in rubble. The interior has not been inspected.
