Description

Treworlis Barton Farmhouse is a farmhouse built around the early to mid 19th century. It features a front made of dressed coursed granite with an ashlar plinth and lintel course, along with dressed granite quoins, sills, jambstones, and lintels. The sides and rear are constructed from rubble. The roof is hipped and covered with scantle slate, and there are brick chimneys on the side walls, along with cast iron ogee gutters. The farmhouse has a double depth, nearly square plan, consisting of two equal front rooms on either side of a central through passage that leads to a central stair, with rear service rooms and a 20th-century lean-to on the right side. It is two storeys high and has a symmetrical three-window south front with a central doorway that features a 20th-century door. The windows are the original 12-pane hornless sashes. The interior has not been inspected. Approximately 10 metres behind the house is a 17th-century former farmhouse, which has a stone chimney and kneeler stones, and has been partly rebuilt, refloored, and re-roofed. Although this former farmhouse is not included in the listing, it adds to the interest of the present farmhouse.
