Description

ST LEVAN ARDENSAWAH SW 32 SE 7/180 Ardensawah Farmhouse - GV II Farmhouse. Circa mid C19. Roughly-coursed granite rubble with granite dressings. Asbestos slate (front) and grouted scantle slate roofs. Hipped roofs at the front with brick chimneys over the side walls of the front roof and 2 chimneys over the gable ends of the rear wing. C20 extension on the right. Plan: Double depth plan house with deep integral kitchen wing with servants stair, at right angles behind the left-hand side. 2 rooms at the front flanking an entrance hall leading to stair hall and a service room (behind the right-hand room) under a separate parallel roof. Exterior: 2 storeys. Nearly symmetrical 3 window south-east front with doorway (left of middle) central to fenestration. Old 4-panel door with glazed top panels and original overlight. Probably original 16-pane horned sashes (similar windows to other elevations). 4-window south-west front has alternate bays blind with windows painted on. Interior: Many original features including an open-well stair with open string and stick balusters and panelled doors throughout.
