Description

ST LEVAN ARDENSAWAH SW 32 SE 7/181 Ardensawah Cottages - GV II Pair of small houses. Circa late C19. Cement rendered front, otherwise granite rubble with granite dressing. Scantle slate roof with brick chimneys over the gable ends and over the cross party wall. Cast-iron ogee-section gutter. Plan: Pair of identical but mirror image plan houses, completely unaltered. Each house has a full depth kitchen/living room; a small parlour with a pantry behind; a lobby entrance leading to a straight flight stair between the kitchen and parlour and a rear lobby entrance behind the stair. Kitchens are at far left and right. Exterior: 2 storeys. Overall 6 window south-west front. Each house has a nearly symmetrical 3-window front with approximately central doorway (each doorway is closer to the middle of the pair). Old ledged doors with overlights. Original 16-pane horned sashes. Rear is unaltered and has its original ledged doors with overlights and 16-pane sashes to the pantries and 12-pane sashes to light the stair landings. Interiors are completely unaltered and retain all their original features including: 4-panel doors; cast-iron Cornish ranges, and cast-iron gates to the parlour and bedrooms.
