Description

The horse gin house at Park Farm is a building likely dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century, which has been adapted for use as a cart shed or garage and is now a store. It features uncoursed killas rubble walls, granite posts, and a scantle slate roof. The structure has a circular plan and is tangentially attached to the rear wall of a barn. It is a single-storey building; the front half originally had a wide opening with a central post in both the left and right quadrants. However, the left opening is now mostly blocked with concrete, and the right opening has been altered to widen its right-hand side, while the left opening remains mostly blocked. The eaves of the roof have been stepped up over most of the opening. The building has a conical roof topped with a copper cap and ball finial. Inside, there is a large beam running across the diameter to support the roof structure, and a hole through the rear wall allows for the drive for threshing machinery in the barn, with a doorway located above this.
