Description

CARN BREA TRELOWETH ROAD SW 64 SE (north side, off) 5/171 Pool Stable block forming north side of farmyard at Treloweth Farm

GV II Stable block, now store. Probably early C19; altered. Large uncoursed blocks of killas rubble, with granite quoins and dressings, slate roof. Rectangular plan on east-west axis. Two storeys and 4 bays; doorway to 2nd bay, segmental-arched wagon doorway to 4th bay, large flight of parallel steps to loft doorway in 1st bay, and 2 square-headed wndows in the 2nd and 3rd bays; 1st floor has window and loft door in 1st bay, loading door in 3rd bay, and square windows in the 2nd and 4th bays. Hipped roof. (Single storey building attached at right-angles at right-hand end, not of special interest.) Interior not inspected. Forms a group with barn on west side of yard (q.v.), representing the remains of a formerly substantial farm, now surrounded by modern housing.
