Description

CARHARRACK LOWER TREVETHAN SW 74 SW 6/119 Stables block approx. 30 metres south-west of Trevethan House GV II

Stable block. Early C19. Coursed squared granite brought to courses, slurried slate roof. Long rectangular range. Two storeys, with 5 first-floor openings; the 2nd bay has a square-headed wagon doorway with long rectangular lintel, and a loading door above, the 4th and 5th have doorways (the latter narrower, with a 4-pane overlight), and there are four 12-pane sashed windows on each floor. Hipped roof, with chimney at right-hand end of ridge. Doorway in right-hand return wall. Rear has flight of steps from higher ground to loft. Interior: former forge in right-hand end. Forms group with Trevethan House.
