Description
Burnwithen House is a mid-19th century house that has been slightly altered. It features coursed squared limestone with granite quoins and dressings, topped with a slate roof. The building has a rectangular double-depth plan, is two storeys high, and has three symmetrical bays. There is a sill-band on the first floor, and the central doorway has a modern wooden architrave that has been applied to the original quoins and lintel, along with a panelled reveal and a recessed panelled door. The windows are 12-pane sashed with quoined jambs and rectangular lintels that are scored to imitate voussoirs. The roof is hipped with chimneys on the side walls. Attached to the right-hand end of the facade is a two-storey screen wall that features a brick-arched coved niche at the ground floor and an embattled parapet. There is also a screen wall at the left end with an arched doorway and a boarded lean-to behind it. The sides, rear, and interior of the building have not been inspected.
