Description
Trevethan House is a farmhouse, now a house, likely built in the 18th century, but enlarged and remodeled in the 19th century. It is constructed of granite rubble with quoins and features a slurried slate roof and brick chimneys. The building has a double-depth plan with a rear extension and an addition on the left end. It stands two storeys tall and originally had two bays, with a third bay added at the left end. The two-bay section is symmetrical, featuring a central entrance that is sheltered by a rectangular porch with Tuscan pilasters, a plain frieze and cornice, and a glazed door with margin panes. It has 4-pane sash windows with quoined surrounds. To the left of the entrance is a quoined vertical joint, followed by the one-bay addition, which has a 12-pane sash window on each floor. The right-hand end includes a full-height lean-to. The rear of the house has sliding sash windows. Inside, the drawing room in the addition features a moulded plaster cornice with egg-and-dart and palmette decoration. The house forms a group with an associated stable block.
