Description
The barn at Park Farm, believed to be a 17th-century tithe barn, is a large structure with an attached building to the east, likely a 19th-century granary over a store. It is constructed of rubble stone with flush quoins and features a stone slate roof. The barn has two central projecting gabled cart entries on the front, each with timber lintels, double doors, and a small opening at the apex. The west side includes 20th-century lean-tos on either side and a blocked slit ventilation opening to the left, with a shuttered loft hole above. The south gable end has a stone loft doorway with a cambered head and a small keystone, along with a similar door on the ground floor to the right. The east side features a large lean-to, likely a former animal shelter, to the left of the cart entry, with 20th-century infill at the front. The barn consists of seven bays, supported by arch-braced collar beams at the level of the lower of two tenoned purlins. The north gable end has a small double arch opening at the apex and a shuttered pitch hole below. To the right of the cart entry, there is an additional projecting building in two stages that forms an L shape with the barn, with its gable end wall integrated into the barn structure. Stone steps lead up to the granary next to the cart entry, which has altered 20th-century openings. The later 19th-century addition features a concrete pantile roof, two plank doors between single lights, and a loft opening.
