Description
28 and 29 Boscawen Street is a town house that has been converted into a shop. It dates from the early 19th century and features a stucco front on studwork, topped with a natural slate roof that has wide eaves at the front. The building has three storeys and a four-window front. Notable architectural details include rusticated quoins, a string course, and widely spaced eaves brackets. The first floor retains two original 12-pane hornless sash windows on the left, while the other windows are 20th-century copies with horns, all set within original openings that have pilasters, consoles, and moulded hoods with pediments above the first-floor windows. The ground floor has been altered to accommodate a large 20th-century shopfront, which features wide pilasters and a tall fascia. The interior of the ground floor has also been modified in the 20th century, but the rest of the interior has not been inspected.
