Description
The Mathews chest tomb, located approximately 45 metres south of the Lych Gate in Marazion, is a chest tomb dating from the 18th century or early 19th century. It commemorates Jos. Mathews, a sailmaker who died in 1799 at the age of 38, and Jas Mathews, also a sailmaker, who died in 1834 at the age of 49. The tomb features an incised slate slab set over a brick base and is rectangular in shape.
