Description
The James Mathews memorial is a chest tomb located approximately 16 meters south of the south nave of the Church of St Deinst. It dates from the early 19th century and is constructed of ashlar stone. The tomb features a moulded plinth and a moulded hipped capping. It has a fielded rectangular panel adorned with a floral motif in the corners, which is flanked by fluted balusters that have gadrooned bases and capping. This memorial commemorates James Mathews of Biddlestone, who died in 1812.
