Description
The St Aubyn Arms (west wing) is a house that was formerly part of a public house until 1902, likely built in the 18th century. It features painted rubble walls on the ground floor and rendered walls above, possibly over cob. The roof is made of grouted dry Delabole slate and has shared chimneys over the party walls, along with cast-iron ogee gutters.
The building has a double depth plan with a cross or through passage on the left, a large front room in the middle, and possibly a small room on the right. It is two storeys high with an irregular two-window north front and a doorway on the left, which has a ledged door. To the left of the middle is an old 18-pane horizontal-sliding sash window, and to the right is a narrow 6-pane casement. Above the pier between the doorway and the window is a canted oriel window, likely with 20th-century sashes and glazing bars, set in a square opening on the first floor. Far right on the first floor is a 20th-century 12-pane two-light casement. Under the wide ground floor window is a reused granite monolith with trenched ends. The interior has not been inspected.
